About Us

Gladstone Valley Funerals has been operating in the Gladstone area for 20 years. Wade and Adele Hughes commenced this firm in 1997. During this time, Gladstone Valley Funerals has developed into a professional, compassionate and highly respected business. The main focus at Gladstone Valley Funerals is being of service to a grieving family. Adele and her staff are highly qualified, through many years of experience, to deal with most situations. Between us our team have well in excess of 60 years of experience in the funerals industry.

Gladstone Valley Funerals is now part of Propel Funeral Partners. Propel is one of the largest providers of funeral related services in New Zealand and Australia and is publicly listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. Adele will continue to oversee operations as the General Managers.

For the past 20 years, Adele and Wade Hughes and their staff at Gladstone Valley Funerals have had the privilege of serving the people of Gladstone and district. It has been an honour to share with so many families, at a time when sincerity is of utmost need.

Adele Hughes

General Manager

Adele is the General Manager of Gladstone Valley Funerals. She works tirelessly to provide an efficient and professional service, and ensures her staff do likewise.

Cilla O’Hare

Funeral Director

Cilla O’Hare is our Funeral Director and is a sensitive, caring and extremely capable person. Cilla has been with our firm for 10 years.

Ivan Dunkley

Mortuary Technician

Ivan has previously worked in the funeral industry, and is our Mortuary Technician. He is qualified in the latest techniques, and is constantly updating his expertise. Ivan has been employed by Gladstone Valley Funerals for 17 years, and was previously employed by Brian McLaughlin from Gladstone Funerals.

Our experienced and Dedicated “On Call” Staff

Libby Attwood who has been with our firm since inception 20 years ago;

Rod Kamholtz is a highly respected member of our community, and currently works at the Gladstone State High School;

Malcolm Saunders has lived in Gladstone since the early 80’s and brings stability to our transfer team.

Tony Dalzell, lives at Boyne Island and is a dedicated volunteer visitor at the local Hospitals.
